We maintain a close relationship with Finn-Guild, who in 2005 celebrated their 40th Anniversary. Finn-Guild support our school and the Finnish Community by awarding regional grants for cultural activities, providing teacher training, running a website (www.finn-guild.org) and quarterly newsletter (Horisontti), financing the annual Guild Pesis (Finnish Baseball) Tournament, posting our communications and generally being helpful when needed. Finn-Guild activities and therefore also the Finnish Schools are supported by revenue from Guild Travel, the only travel agency in Britain specialised exclusively in holidays to Finland. Kiitos Killalle! |
In 2002 we celebrated our 25th birthday with a traditional Finnish “Jytkyt” Dance. Organised by Finn-Guild and our School, the Finns and Friends event in Vernon Park, Stockport, on 16 June 2007 saw around 150 guests celebrating our 30th anniversary and generally all things summery and Finnish. The day's programme included such exciting events as a wife-carrying competition, tango lessons and Finnish theatre. Finnish food, arts and crats and music added to the festivities. With your support, we look forward to celebrating our next 30 years!
